2023 roadmap and progress on jmix devops

Hi,
I regularly check the forum and blog if there is any news on a 2023 roadmap, I haven’t seen anything around yet.

In previous years the roadmap was announced much earlier.

So, what’s up? Where is Jmix headed this year?

I also check the Jmix devops page, any ETA on that?

anyone?

Hi Tom,

I’m very sorry for the late reply.

The current roadmap is always available at Jmix Roadmap · GitHub
It’s a live document, so it reflects our intentions on the current date, according to the current understanding of the situation. You can see all the changes in its activity feed if you want.

We prefer this dynamic form to a static declaration at the beginning of a year. A whole year is really too long to predict something in our field, so such promises break too often.

Nevertheless, in the next few weeks we are going to publish a dedicated article about our high-level vision and positioning. Also, the release 1.5 is coming and the blog post with announcement will include our immediate plans for the next iteration.

As for DevOps Cloud, unfortunately I cannot say anything at the moment. Most probably we’ll have some news by Q4.

Regards,
Konstantin

thanks for the info!

Hello,

thanks for being as transparent as you are with your plans. I’m sure that you have put a lot of thought into your roadmap, but nevertheless, I would like to ask a question: is it possible to move the Maps and Notifications to June 2023 release, or these tasks are too complex considering the timeframe?

Kind regards,
Mladen

Hi Mladen,

Thanks for your feedback!

The current roadmap is quite realistic, and in order to change it and remain realistic we would need to trade some add-ons for the others. Which ones? According to our statistics, Reports and BPM are the most used, moreover BPM Flow UI is already half done. Email is also one of the top and way ahead of Maps and Notifications.
However, we’ll take your opinion into account and start working on these add-ons as soon as we can. Even if we won’t be in time with release 2.0, you will be able to use them from 2.1 snapshots.
