BPMN modeler: multi-selection and copy/paste not working + cross-file copy/paste feature request

Environment:

  • Jmix BOM version: 2.8.1
  • Jmix Studio plugin: 2.8.2-253
  • IntelliJ IDEA: 2025.3.6 (Build #IU-253.33813.25)
  • OS: Windows 11

Bug report: Multi-selection and copy/paste not working correctly in the BPMN modeler

In the BPMN modeler editor included in Jmix Studio, selecting multiple elements (via drag selection or Ctrl+Click) and then copying and pasting them does not work as expected. The operation either fails silently, pastes incorrectly, or only a subset of the selected elements is handled.

Note: the underlying library bpmn.io does support multi-element selection and copy/paste correctly in its standalone web version. This suggests the issue may be related to the version of bpmn.io bundled in the plugin, or to limitations introduced by the Jmix Studio integration layer.

It would be very helpful if this could be investigated and aligned with the current capabilities of bpmn.io.

Feature request: Cross-file copy/paste between BPMN diagrams

It would be very valuable to be able to select one or more elements (subprocesses, task groups, gateways, etc.) in one .bpmn file and paste them into a different .bpmn file.

This would significantly improve efficiency in modular environments where process fragments or patterns are reused across multiple process definitions, avoiding the need to rebuild common structures from scratch in each file.

Thank you for your time and for the great work on the Jmix platform.

Hello @asantosu.ext,

Thank you for your feedback. We’ve opened a ticket to improve the Jmix Runtime Modeler. We don’t plan to continue developing the modeler in the studio. This functionality will be available in Flowset Studio in the future.
