The bug whereby when one switches windows and then comes back to a screen designer window in preview mode, but the preview is blank, still exists.
The only is to close the designer window and re-open it.

Some additional logging was added to screen designer initialization process. Could you please enable debug logging in the IDE and send us idea.log file after you face such problems?
To enable debug logging please go to Help → Diagnostic Tools → Debug Log Settings…
Add the following lines:
#com.haulmont.jmixstudio.ui
#com.haulmont.jmixstudio.intellij.ui
And then restart IDE.
It happens randomly, and yeah, I also mentioned it on that linked thread.
If one uses the designers often, with lots of windows open, it will happen…guaranteed eventually.

Eh, this is probably a related issue, but not exactly the same. This case says “… more than 6 descriptors open.” I’ve had this happen with the ONLY descriptor open, but many other windows such as the fetch plans file, the message bundle, menu editor, a few service/other business logic sources, and so on.
Even the buttons to switch between design/text/design+text/etc vanish in this case.
Probably it’s a related bug, though.
