Hi everyone,
We need to update our release plan for the next Jmix versions.
Originally, we planned to release Jmix 3.0 in February 2026 and set 2.7 as the LTS version.
Now the plan is different:
-
Release 2.8 in March 2026. This will be an LTS release with 3 years of free maintenance. It will include:
- Support for facets in fragments
- SidePanelLayout component (Drawer)
- SAML add-on
- Visualization of the data model in a running application
- Support for
@ElementCollectionin entities - Support for additional message bundles in Studio
-
Release 3.0 in June 2026. In this release we’ll update the stack to Spring Boot 4, Vaadin 25, EclipseLink 5, and Flowable 8. The minimum Java version will be 21.
Why Jmix 3.0 is delayed:
- Flowable 8 compatible with Spring Boot 4 is not released yet. The exact date is unknown, so we currently cannot provide the BPM add-on for Jmix 3.0.
- EclipseLink 5 compatible with Spring Boot 4 has no final release yet, and the exact date is unknown. Using the beta version is risky.
- Migrating Jmix UI to Vaadin 25 took more effort than we expected, and we need more time for testing to deliver a stable, production-ready solution.
After a thorough internal review, we concluded that delivering a fully production-ready Jmix 3.0 with the complete set of add-ons requires additional work.
Thank you for your patience and support!
